Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro: these are the new top smartphones from Xiaomi
Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. Both smartphones are almost indistinguishable from the outside. They have top features, but they are not completely identical - this applies to the camera and battery, among other things.
The main camera in both new Xiaomi smartphones has a sensor with 108 megapixels, but the three other cameras have different high resolutions and purposes. With the battery, you have to choose between capacity and fast charging and the colours of the otherwise identical casing are not the same.
Mi 10 Pro: More resolution, more zoom, faster charging and different colours
According to the manufacturer, the weight and dimensions of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 are identical down to the millimetre and gram. You can still tell them apart visually: The Mi 10 Pro is available in white and a bluish grey, the Mi 10 in green and a dark grey.
Both smartphones have a quad camera with four lenses on the back and the main camera has a resolution of 108 megapixels. Xiaomi already uses this sensor in the Mi Note 10.
The other three cameras are different. The Mi 10 has an ultra-wide-angle lens with a resolution of 13 megapixels as well as a macro lens and a depth of field sensor - for blurred backgrounds in portrait shots - each with a resolution of two megapixels. In the Mi 10 Pro, the ultra-wide-angle lens has a resolution of 20 megapixels and the two other cameras are telephoto lenses. One with 12 megapixels for a 2x zoom and one with eight megapixels, which should enable a 10x "hybrid zoom" and a 50x digital zoom.
The Mi 10 Pro has a slightly smaller battery. The capacity is 4500 mAh compared to 4780 mAh for the Mi 10, but the difference in battery life should be minimal in everyday use. The Mi 10 Pro also offers more charging power. The 65-watt power supply charges the battery with 50 watts. The Mi 10 only requires 30 watts. Both smartphones can charge wirelessly.

Both new smartphones come with 256 gigabytes of internal storage. However, only the Mi 10 is also available as a cheaper version with 128 gigabytes of internal storage.
Display, computing power and software are identical
Both Mi 10 models have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90 hertz. The resolution is 2340×1080 pixels. This is an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. According to Xiaomi's calculations, the touchscreen covers 92.4 per cent of the front of the smartphone. In the top left corner of the screen there is a hole for the front camera, which has a resolution of 20 megapixels.
The fingerprint sensor of the Mi 10 (Pro) is located in the display. Simply place your finger on the touchscreen to unlock it. Music is played in stereo sound from two speakers and the front and back are made of Gorilla Glass 5. Under the bonnet is the Snapdragon 865, currently the most powerful chipset from Qualcomm. It has an integrated 5G modem and eight gigabytes of RAM at its side. So there should be no shortage of computing power.

Android 10 is pre-installed on the Mi 10 models from the factory. Xiaomi provides Google's operating system with its own MIUI 11 user interface.
In Germany, the recommended retail price for the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is 999 euros. Xiaomi suggests 899 euros for the Mi 10 with 256 gigabytes of memory and the 128 gigabyte version is available for 799 euros. The prices for Switzerland were not yet known at the time of going to press.

When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.Â
