Microsoft offers new Copilot Pro plan for individuals and extends business offering to SMEs
Microsoft is extending its existing Copilot subscription for companies to SMEs with fewer than 300 employees. There is also a new subscription for private individuals. With Copilot Pro, consumers can also use the AI assistant with their data across programmes and devices.
With immediate effect, Microsoft is extending its Copilot offer for business customers to SMEs. This means that companies with just 1 to 300 employees can now also use the AI bot. Those who want it can purchase it for 30 US dollars per employee per month as an option to a Microsoft 365 licence. Microsoft is also introducing a Copilot Pro subscription for private users, which costs USD 20 per month.
With Copilot Pro, users receive the following advantages over the normal non-Pro version integrated in Windows, as stated in the press release from Microsoft:
- A unified AI experience, seamless use of Copilot Pro across devices
- Access to Copilot Office in Word, Excel (currently only available as a preview and in English), PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote on PC, Mac and iPad for Microsoft 365 individual and family subscribers
- Priority access to the latest AI models such as OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo; even during peak times Copilot Pro ensures improved performance; soon there will also be the option to switch between models
- Improved AI-powered image generation with Designer's Image Creator (formerly Bing Image Creator), including 100 boosts per day for more detailed and varied image formats
- The ability to create your own Copilot GPTs - a customised Copilot for a specific topic - in the new Copilot GPT Builder (coming soon) with just a simple set of instructions
The Copilot experience is not just limited to Windows, but can also be used across devices. This means that personal data can also be synchronised in the Copilot apps for Android and iOS for mobile use. The range of functions of the apps should not have to hide behind the PC version - in addition to GPT-4, Dall-E 3 also works for image creation. What does not yet exist, but will be rolled out next month, is the Copilot integration into the mobile Microsoft 365 app.
When Copilot will come to Europe, however, is still not clear. In the press release, Microsoft does not mention that its AI bot is not yet available in this country. The fact is, however, that it first has to be adapted to the European Union's Digital Market Act before we can enjoy the AI bot in Europe. With any luck, this should happen in March.
