New AMD mainboard chipsets unveiled at Computex

AMD presented the new chipsets for the AM5 mainboards at Computex. The flagship of the 600 series mainboards is the X670E chipset.
The AMD AM5 platform is based on the new LGA-1718 socket. This supports CPUs with up to 170 watts. The 600 series is equipped for DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5.
The X670E chipset - E stands for Extreme - was developed for extreme overclocking. PCIe Gen5 is available here for memory and graphics. The X670 chipset is then only designed for enthusiast overclocking, as AMD calls it. This means that the Power Phases and VRM are less potent than on the Extreme mainboards. PCIe Gen5 is available here for memory and optionally for graphics. The mainstream platform based on the B650 chipset will only support PCIe Gen5 for memory.
The 600-series motherboards will offer up to 24 PCIe Gen5 lanes for memory and graphics, up to 14 SuperSpeed USB 20 Gbps ports, WiFi 6E support and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2. In addition, the motherboards are said to feature up to four HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2 outputs. This is especially in view of the fact that the Ryzen 7000 series has integrated RDNA2 graphics.
Especially pleasing for all those who want to take over their cooling system: The AM4 coolers are supposed to be compatible with the AM5 platform.
The new motherboards are expected to arrive in the fall.
