New trend from Korea: the jade comb
Following the hype surrounding face rollers made from rose quartz or jade, the latest tool with trend potential is already in the starting blocks: a comb made from the green gemstone.
South Korea, the birthplace of the Korean beauty movement, is behind every second beauty trend. A recipe for success that is still flying high. The demand for the much-praised face rollers made from rose quartz or jade has barely begun to wane again before the country has a new product ready to cause a stir: a comb made from the supposedly healing jade stone.
Admittedly, the shape of the "Jade Comb" is a bit of a no brainer. But the hair tool scores with its look and feel. If you believe Asian medicine, the jade stone is said to have healing properties. As a face roller, it is said to tighten the complexion. On the head, on the other hand, it is said to soften the hair. The semi-precious stone is also used to treat kidney problems.
How to do it
Combing your hair with healing stones stimulates several acupressure points on your head. According to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM for short), qi meridians run along the scalp. The life force "Qi" flows through them, transporting energy and nutrients to the organs. Combing has a stimulating effect and boosts this energy flow and blood circulation. The massage effect that the jade comb has on your scalp also frees the scalp from disruptive factors such as dead skin cells and styling residue, which have a negative effect on hair growth.
All just humbug?
Not everyone believes in Chinese medicine. The fact is that a healthy scalp is essential if you want beautiful hair. It is the breeding ground of your mane. If your scalp is not in balance, none of the expensive miracle products you regularly apply to your head will do any good. Whether you need a "Jade Comb" of all things for a stimulating massage remains to be seen. In any case, it's a nice addition to your bathroom shelf.
