No longer a rumour: Google officially unveils the Pixel Fold
Google has shown its first foldable smartphone for the first time: The short video invites you to the detailed presentation on 10 May.
Rumours and leaks of images and specifications of the Pixel Fold have been around for months. Now Google has officially confirmed its first foldable smartphone. It can be seen from all sides and in motion in a short video clip.
In-depth presentation on 10 May
The video confirms the recently leaked images of the Pixel Fold. The smartphone can be unfolded and has two displays - one on the outside and a larger one on the inside. Google does not provide any further details. Instead, the manufacturer refers to 10 May. This is when its I/O developer conference begins at 7 pm our time. The foldable smartphone is likely to be presented in detail at the opening keynote.
A new smartphone at a conference about software? Yes, that makes sense. In the texts accompanying the previous pre-release versions of Android 14, Google repeatedly emphasises that the operating system has been optimised for devices with large displays. Not much of this has been seen so far. The start of Google I/O would therefore be the perfect setting to present this innovation.
The Pixel Fold will not be the only new device at I/O. Tablets also have larger displays than smartphones. The difference is that Google first showed the Pixel Tablet a year ago and announced it for 2023.

Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
