Official release of the second season of "The Witcher" on Netflix** (in French)
Netflix has announced the second season of 'The Witcher', a month before the first season kicks off. What's more, there are new details from Italy.
In a Tweet posted yesterday, Netflix announced a second season of "The Witcher," before the first season had even begun.
This is unusual, as Netflix always waits a few weeks after the launch of a series before announcing a new season. For 'Stranger Things', the Netflix's most successful series to date, it was even close to the most successful series to date.tait even close tothree months. Perhaps this announcement means that Netflix executives are excited about "The Witcher" series and believe in its potential for success on the streaming platform?
The second season is scheduled for 2021 on Netflix, in all likelihood over the Christmas period; the first season will be released on 20 December 2019.
Significance of the twin swords
In the tweet above, the second season is announced with a photo of Geralt's iconic twin swords - the character played by Henry Cavill - one made of steel, intended for combat against humans, the other made of silver, for killing magical creatures. And finally, a little wink revealed: "the wizard's trusty Ablette mount will be in the second season."
Wink, because in the past, many fans have complained that they don't see Geralt wearing both swords on his back in the trailers released so far, as he does in the games. The fact is that in Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, on which the Netflix series is based, it's Ablette, Geralt's horse, who carries the silver sword.
Info from Italy
In a video recently released on Netflix's Italian Youtube channel, Lauren S. Hissrich, Showrunner, and Tomasz Baginski, Executive Producer, discussed the latest trailer for "The Witcher".
As a result, a recurring element of the first season is set to be "rebirth", as Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Geralt must wipe the slate clean of an old life. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich also claims that actor Henry Cavill did all his own stunts and sword fights. In addition, the number of monsters in the trailers has been deliberately reduced so as not to give too much away; monsters are said to play a much bigger role in the series than the trailers suggest.
The poet Jaskier, Geralt's best friend, also makes an appearance in the trailer. Tomasz Bagiński mentions fan theories that Jaskier is the narrator - the author - of "The Witcher" novels.
Finally: Ablette, Geralt's horse, will be intimately involved with the witch hunter, as in the books. Henry Cavill himself chose the horse Ablette plays in the series, so that the relationship between Man and animal is as believable as possible, that it also passes in front of the camera.
This series looks promising, doesn't it?
