OnePlus 11 presented: The camera module has become round

While the Oneplus 11 has already been unveiled in China, the presentation for the rest of the world will take place on 7 February. However, new details on design and features are not expected then. The smartphone includes the latest Snapdragon chipset, a large amount of RAM and three cameras.

Hardware from the top league

The OnePlus 11 houses Qualcomm's latest high-end processor: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It also comes with up to 16 gigabytes of RAM and up to 512 gigabytes of internal storage. The OLED display is made by Samsung, measures 6.7 inches and has a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz.

The 5000 mAh battery is charged with up to 100 watts. In the OnePlus 10 Pro it was still 80 watts. It is said to be charged to 50 per cent in 10 minutes and 100 per cent in 25 minutes. It also said the battery was more durable and would last well after four years.

Please smile for the cameras

The round camera arrangement on the back of the Oneplus 11 is said to be inspired by a black hole and significantly changes the design from its square-module predecessor. The cameras are a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 32-megapixel camera for portrait shots. The sensors are all from Sony. The collaboration with Hasselblad remains in place, but still relates to the software.

Instead of a telephoto lens, OnePlus equips the smartphone with a so-called
'13-channel multi-spectral light colour detection sensor'. With this, it is supposed to be able to handle "all shooting situations". The manufacturer did not elaborate on what exactly this means.
The selfie camera is also not missing and is located as a 16-megapixel variant in a cut-out on the upper left corner of the display.

The OnePlus 11 comes in dark green and black. The green variant has a polished glass back. The black has a sandstone-like finish and is said to be less attractive to fingerprints.

Optimised for gaming enthusiasts: the software

The OnePlus 11 runs ColorOS 13, which means it has Android 13 on board. This also includes an improved gaming mode: if you have a poor internet connection, a gaming cloud technology is supposed to ensure that you get preferential access to the network. This means that you will have fewer connection problems with overloaded networks. Another mode ensures a high and stable refresh rate. This way, you play with good quality, while the energy consumption apparently remains low. Last but not least, the vibration mode is also improved during gaming, so that two vibrations can be felt at the same time - oh yes.

International prices will be announced on the 7 February launch at the earliest - although in Germany a patent lawsuit by Nokia still prohibits OnePlus from selling its smartphones directly. In China, the smartphone will be released for sale from 9 January. Prices are 3,999 yuan (approx. 570 CHF/€) for the 12/256GB version, 4,399 yuan (approx. 630 CHF/€) for the mid-range 16/256GB variant and 4,899 yuan (710 CHF/€) for the top-of-the-line 16/512GB variant.
