OnePlus 7T unveiled: 90 Hz display becomes standard
OnePlus says it is listening to users and has therefore made major changes to the OnePlus 7T in three areas: The display, the camera and the charging speed of the battery should ensure even more satisfaction among buyers.
With a 90 Hz display and triple camera, the OnePlus 7T is more similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and even charges faster, but does not have a retractable front camera.
90 Hz display and with corners and edges
OnePlus says it has decided to install the 90 Hz display on the OnePlus 7 Pro in the OnePlus 7T - in a straight version that is not curved at the sides - due to the positive feedback it has received. Compared to the usual displays with a refresh rate of 60 hertz, it should ensure smoother animations.
The OnePlus 7T's touchscreen measures 6.55 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The notch for the front camera has become smaller compared to the OnePlus 7. At 1000 nits, the screen is also said to be 27 per cent brighter than its predecessor. The existing support for HDR10 has now become a matter of course among top smartphones.

OnePlus has installed a so-called E3 panel in the 7T, which is designed to reduce blue light by 30 per cent and thus protect your eyes. Speaking of protecting your eyes: The previously monochrome reading mode gets some colour. The always-on display is supposed to be smarter than its predecessor. Based on factors such as the time, your previous usage or Wi-Fi, it should decide whether it is worth showing information such as the date, time and notification icons when the display is switched off.
Triple camera with new software
The camera on the back of the OnePlus 7T is striking: Although its three lenses are arranged horizontally in a line, they are surrounded by a distinctive circle. The triple camera is technically very similar to that of the OnePlus 7 Pro, but has a telephoto lens with a higher resolution and larger aperture. With a resolution of twelve megapixels, it offers twice the magnification of the main camera with its 48-megapixel sensor. Its final images have a resolution of twelve megapixels, as each pixel on the sensor is combined into one. The wide-angle camera with a viewing angle of 117 degrees has a resolution of 16 megapixels. The front camera also offers the same resolution.

The manufacturer highlighted the OnePlus 7 Pro's top score in the DxOMark test, but subsequently found out that users have different expectations than the professional testers. After several software updates for the camera of the 7 Pro have been released in recent months, the OnePlus 7T comes with several new functions: Night mode, for example, has found its way into the wide-angle camera and with the new macro mode, you should be able to get up to 2.5 centimetres close to your subject. Portrait mode now uses the main camera and no longer the telephoto lens, and backlit shots should have more depth and more contours. Electronic stabilisation is now available for videos with the wide-angle camera.
Fast hardware and fast-charging battery
OnePlus claims to have further improved its in-house fast charging technology. WarpCharge 30T charges the battery faster than before, especially at the beginning, so that your smartphone can top up as much energy as possible in the first few minutes. The 3800 mAh battery of the OnePlus 7T should be fully charged in 60 minutes.
OnePlus uses the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and provides it with eight gigabytes of RAM. The internal memory is 128 gigabytes and, unlike in the past, there are no other storage options. Instead, the manufacturer claims to have further improved the fingerprint sensor in the display and installed a new haptic vibration motor.

The operating system is OxygenOS 10, which is based on Android 10. It also comes with the promise of two years of Android updates and three years of security updates. If you already use OnePlus gesture control, you will have to get used to it a little, as the gestures will be adapted to Android 10. For example, you can no longer go back by swiping in the bottom corner, but by moving inwards from the edge.
The software innovations include the multitasking view, which now also works vertically, the gallery app, which recognises faces and only saves the data locally on the smartphone, as well as a hidden album for pictures that you don't want your friends to see when scrolling through. The Zen mode introduced with the OnePlus 7 can now also be used to silence the smartphone for 40 or 60 minutes.
Price and availability
The manufacturer has not yet revealed exactly when the OnePlus 7T will be available and how much it will cost. Just this much: It will be released in October and will be priced in line with the OnePlus 7. For orientation: In the USA, the price is 599 dollars and sales will start on 18 October. In terms of colour, you will be able to choose between "Glacier Blue" and "Frosted Silver" for the glass back, both of which are matt and non-reflective.
There was no mention of the OnePlus 7T Pro at the event on 26 September, but OnePlus had already invited people to another event on 14 October.

When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
