A direct comparison of all selected printers
Kyocera
With the two models from Kyocera, you can print up to 30 pages per minute (A3 up to 15 pages/minute). The M8124 model is slightly slower and has a smaller screen. Otherwise, the devices are identical. With the PF-470 paper tray, the capacity is limited to 1100 pages. The PF-471 variant offers up to 1600 sheets in three paper trays. The resolution of 1200×1200 dpi is average, but perfectly satisfactory for normal use. The excellent warranty coverage speaks in favour of the device. With KL3, every A3 device from Kyocera has a three-year on-site warranty (or up to a maximum of 200,000 pages). The only drawback of this device is the low capacity of the toner supplied. The price per page is approximately 0.63 cents for black and white and 1.16 cents for colour.
Pro
- Warranty: three years (KL3)
- Speed
Contra
- Capacity of toner supplied: 3000 black / 1500 colour
OKI
OKI clearly offers the fastest devices in our comparison (up to 35 pages per minute). At 1200×600 dpi, the resolution suffers as a result. Although this resolution is sufficient for everyday business use, the MC8x3 should not be used in a graphics department. The device is available in two different versions (MC853 & MC873) with different paper capacities (dn, dnct & dnv). Our top sellers are the dnv versions with a capacity of up to 2000 sheets spread over four paper trays. This is top of the range among A3 machines. OKI doesn't exactly shine with the high capacity of the toners supplied: only 2500 pages for black and white and colour. The MC8x3 devices are also the most expensive in terms of average page price: 0.70 cents (black and white) and 1.59 cents (colour) per page.* The warranty is significantly better with a three-year on-site warranty if registered within 30 days of purchase.
Pro
- Paper capacity & trays: 2005 (paper), 4 (trays)
- Speed (MC873dnv)
Contra
- Resolution: 1200×600 dpi
- Capacity of toner supplied: 2500 black / 2500 colour
Ricoh
Though the two Ricoh devices are not the fastest, they score points with their high toner coverage (15,000 black and 9500 colour). The price per page is also impressive and is the lowest of the machines shown for both colour (0.91 cents/page) and black and white documents (0.35 cents/page)*. The MP C2011 and MP C2004 also boast a large and clear touch display. The only downside is the limited two-year warranty.
Pro
- Toner page price: 0.35 cents (black and white) / 0.91 cents (colour)*
- Control panel: touch display 9"/10.1"
- Capacity of toner supplied: 15,000 black and white / 9500 colour
Contra
- Warranty: two years (service contract optionally available from Ricoh)
Xerox
The C7020dn is available either as a desktop printer or in a bundle with an additional paper module and three-year on-site warranty (if registered within 30 days). The 7"-touch panel offers intuitive operation based on Android. In contrast to the other devices (USB 2.0), a connection via USB 3.0 and NFC is possible as standard. The print resolution (up to 1200×2400 dpi) offers excellent text sharpness and fine details. The only drawback: at 0.70 cents (black and white) and 1.55 cents (colour) per page*, toner costs are roughly the same as OKI's.
