Samsung has announced three new languages and three new dialects for Galaxy AI. These are not only used for translations, but also activate further AI functions in the respective languages.

Arabic, Indonesian and Russian are the new languages of Galaxy AI. Samsung classifies Australian English, Cantonese and Canadian French as dialects. All six should bring the company closer to its goal of 100 million Galaxy AI users in 2024.

Not just translations

If you don't speak the new languages, you can use them for live translations of phone calls and chats as well as in direct conversations via the interpreter function.

If one of the languages is the system language set on your smartphone with Galaxy AI, the update unlocks AI functions in this language. This includes:

  • The writing assistant, which suggests different tones for your texts
  • The note-taking assistant, which creates summaries, templates and cover sheets
  • The transcription assistant that converts voice recordings into text, summarises content and can translate it all
  • The browsing assistant that summarises websites and news articles
  • Product test

However, Samsung does not reveal when exactly which language pack will be available. There is only a vague indication that the new languages and dialects can be downloaded via the settings "from April and in the coming months". Samsung is also holding out the prospect of further language packs for 2024.

Samsung introduced Galaxy AI for the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of 2024. The software functions have also been available for the manufacturer's top smartphones from 2023 since the end of March with the update to One UI 6.1. Specifically, these are the S23 series as well as the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.

As a primary school pupil, I used to sit in a friend's living room with many of my classmates to play the Super NES. Now I get my hands on the latest technology and test it for you. In recent years at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, now at Digitec and Galaxus.
