The best value-for-money mascara? This one!

A really good mascara is a real gem – especially if it doesn’t cost a fortune. Here’s my love letter to the mascara I keep coming back to.

You weren’t my first, but I promise you’ll be my last. Sure, there’s the occasional fling, but you’re the one for me. How can I be so sure? Well, haven’t I always come back to you? There you go. In a dark corner in the back of my drawer – that’s where you’ve been waiting patiently for me every morning for years. Too often did I overlook you and reach for something new, more exciting I wanted to play with. Mayebelline’s Sky High, for instance. It opened my eyes and propelled me to cloud nine.

Why everyone’s raving about this mascara

You brought me back down to earth. And the time we spent apart left its mark on you. You dried out and got clumpy. I ditched you – and replaced you with an identical twin. More than once. See, I can’t live without you. You forgave me and we decided to start over. That’s when L'Oréal’s Telescopic Lift came between us. A short fling. Yes, I’m easily seduced.

Today, we’re back together. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. But the day after tomorrow, I promise, you’ll be mine again, my princess.

The Lash Princess Volume Mascara by Essence has been an integral part of my make-up kit for years. Its secret of success? The perfectly curved brush, which reaches every single eyelash. The side with the short bristles gives your lashes volume, while the one with the longer bristles separates the lashes and adds length. This mascara doesn’t smudge and, best of all, you don’t need to break the bank to be able to afford it (again and again).

Beware of confusion: Essence’s Lash Princess line includes other mascaras, which come in other brush shapes and packaging.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
