Are you looking for PC or console game recommendations? Then you’ve come to the right place. These are the game highlights this July.
As the mercury rises in summer, lakes and rivers get completely overcrowded. So, it’s better to stay at home, pull down the shutters and get comfortable with the following games.
«F1 22»
I’m actually the completely wrong person to talk you into a Formula 1 game. My eyelids start to close at the mere thought of sport. But, after all, it is THE series for breakneck motor racing. Maybe the wind would wake me up gently by gliding its hands through my hair if I held my head out of the cockpit at almost 400 km/h. You definitely notice speed a lot more in the trailer. And then there’s all the rest of the simulation.
It comes out on 1 July for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
«AI: The Somnium Files»
The story is reminiscent of a Sherlock Holmes case. Six years ago, the right half of a corpse was found and now the left part has been uncovered, completely intact. Special agents Mizuki and Ryuki have to unravel the mystery of the bizarre serial killer in a jiffy. The trailer promises a wonderfully weird anime adventure.
Already available for PC. And it comes out on 8 July for Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
«PowerWash Simulator»
I’m toying with the idea of getting a real high pressure washer. The «PowerWash Simulator» is cheaper and comes with less effort. It lets you get rid of annoying dirt in gardens, cars and even entire playgrounds. Chill out factor: 10 out of 10.
Already available as early access. Version 1.0 for PC, Xbox and Xbox Series S/X comes out on 14 July.
«Mothmen 1966»
This indie recommendation comes under the pixel pulp genre. «Mothmen 1966» is a visual novel told via harmonious pixel graphics. The game looks like it’s straight out of the 80s. The narrative style, on the other hand, is based on 50s horror stories.
It comes out on 14 July for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Switch.
«As Dusk Falls»
«As Dusk Falls» is an interactive drama where the fate of two estranged families is in your hands. It all starts with a failed robbery in a small US town. You get to decide how the story ends. It’s not just the premise that’s captivating and promises a lot of freedom. The design uses real actors, who are dramatised with the help of a comic filter and still images that move slightly. You can also play this game together with someone else.
It comes out on 19 July for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and Game Pass.
«Stray»
You play a cat in a futuristic city that’s only inhabited by androids with TVs for heads. Instead of scratching sofas and biting your caregiver’s leg because they’re not giving you food fast enough, what’s important to you is unraveling an ancient secret and finding your family again. You sneak through the neon world and solve little puzzles with the help of a drone.
It comes out on 19 July for PC, PS4, PS5, PS Plus Extra and Premium.
«Hell Pie»
In this action-packed showcase, you take on the role of Nate, the demon of bad taste. The name of the game is to get together all the ingredients for Satan’s birthday party. You do that by fighting your way through a colourful combination of skewed levels. Your most important tools are a grappling hook that’s held by a naked baby angel and your own demonic horns.
It comes out on 21 July for PC.
«Immortality»
«Her Story» and «Telling Lies» are already in Sam Barlow’s repertoire of gripping, interactive film games. He’s set to deliver the next in July with «Immortality». It’s about the story of fictional film star Marissa Marcel, who shot three films that were never released – and now she’s disappeared. Get gaming to find out what happened.
It comes out on 26 July for PC.
«Bear and Breakfast»
Ever dreamed of running your own bed and breakfast? «Bear and Breakfast» is about just that. You gather resources, furnish your B&B and take care of your guests. But there is one small, subtle difference. Namely that you’re a bear. There’s also a secret lurking in the forest that’s waiting to be revealed.
It comes out on 28 July for PC and Switch.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
