Today's Trailer Tuesday is exclusively dedicated to streaming services: Netflix is releasing two new seasons of «Kingdom» and «Money Heist». But in my opinion, Amazon, the TV series newcomer, has got the upper hand this week: «Tales From the Loop» just looks great.

In this week's thrilling installation of Trailer Tuesday:

  • «Kingdom» Season 2, launch date: March 13, 2020, Netflix
  • «Money Heist» Season 4, launch date: April 3, 2020, Netflix
  • «Tales From the Loop», start date: April 3, 2020, Amazon Prime Video
  • «Black Widow», theatrical release: May 1, 2020
  • «Greyhound», cinema release: June 12, 2020

Kingdom, Season 2

Medieval Korea. Authentic costumes. Beautiful scenery. Warriors, princesses, princes – and zombies. One of Netflix' best series is back with a vengeance. And it's a zombie show. No, this isn't «The Walking Dead», but a South Korean production called «Kingdom». The first season ended with a nasty cliffhanger, which I'll talk about in the next paragraph. If you're looking to catch up, just skip this section.

The first season ended just as the ultimate battle against the zombie horde was about to begin. Fade to black, then a hard cut, leaving viewers with the utmost feeling of suspense. Nasty. At least we can look forward to a spectacular opening battle in season 2. The only thing I'm scared of is what cliffhanger awaits us at the end of these new episodes.

Release date: 13 March 2020, Netflix

Money Heist, Season 4

The original Spanish production by Alex Pina is called «La Casa de Papel». Literally translated as «The Paper House». Fits. The series tells the story of a mysterious man named the Professor who, with the help of eight specialists, plans the biggest robbery in Spanish history. While Seasons 1 and 2 were all about the Spanish money printing industry – hence the name – Season Three's main focus was the Spanish central bank.

Regarding the trailer: did you notice anything special during the «Ode to Joy» montage? I mean, it's an obvious tribute to Die Hard. This scene to be exact, in which Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) opens the vault of the fictional Nakatomi Plaza building.

Awesome.

Start date: 3 April 2020, Netflix

Tales From the Loop

For me, «Tales From the Loop» is the most exciting trailer of the week: the show uses pictures by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag to create a coherent, engaging story.

Stålenhag's artwork is perfect for this: he combines untouched Swedish landscapes with science fiction elements or futuristic machines. This results in very expressive pictures that tell extremely personal stories in our mind – without us being able to control it.

What story does this picture tell? Maybe we'll find out in «Tales From the Loop».

Perfectly summarising «Tales From the Loop» is rather difficult. According to the trailer, the story will revolve around a machine – the Loop – built to decipher and explore the secrets of the universe. The loop allows occurrences previously only possible in science fiction. Sounds exciting.

Start date: April 3, 2020, Amazon Prime Video

Black Widow

We finally get to see the bad guy from «Black Widow». A little bit, at least. Above all, the trailer shows his special ability: photographic reflexes.

This means that he can immediately imitate things he sees. For example, when he watches Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) doing back flips to knock out her opponents, he can do so without months of training.

This is what makes Taskmaster, whose true identity nobody knows, so appealing. In the trailer, for example, you can see how he studies excerpts from «Iron Man 2» at 0:35 to learn Natasha's fighting techniques. But apparently he can also throw his shield like Captain America, use claws like Black Panther and shoot arrows like Hawkeye. And isn't that a young William Hurt as General Ross?

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 1 May 2020

Greyhound

Tom Hanks.

Watch it.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 12 June 2020

I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
