Let’s start with the most important thing: there’s a new final trailer to «Star Wars: Episode 9». My first thought: why isn’t this movie in the cinemas yet? Oh, and a few more trailers were released, too. They weren't bad either.

The mega mindfuck: the final trailer of «Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker» is here. But before we got to it, let’s take a look at «Lady and the Tramp», «Bloodshot» with Vin Diesel's shredded face and the next season of «Lost in Space».

Lady and the Tramp

Disney. May I ask how many more animated real-life movies you want to do? How many more times do we have to... – aaaw, puppies! Okay. I get it. All right, this one movie, but it’s the last one, Disney, right?

Although, a live-action Hercules... I'd kinda like that. Imagine the muses singing «Bless my soil, Herc was on a roll» in an amazing live action montage. Sounds promising.

Start date: 12 November 2019, Disney Plus

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

«Not a scratch on her», is what Han Solo says shortly before the Battle of Endor, when he hands over the Millennium Falcon to his old friend Lando Calrissian. Probably George Lucas, creator of Star Wars, chose similar words when he gave Disney the rights to the franchise.

But according to fans, Disney left some «scratches» to the movies, especially the last part, «The Last Jedi». I know I'm pretty alone with my opinion that this is one of the best movies in the series. But I hope «The Rise of Skywalker» will at least reconcile the fans with director J. J. Abrams. And the trailer, accompanied by John Williams' music, does a lot to spark the old fire, the childlike anticipation and the almost unbearable curiosity for «Star Wars», even among stubborn sceptics.

What's the Emperor Palpatine up to? Why is he still alive? What does C-3PO mean when he says he's taking a last look at his friends? I want to know if it’s a coincidence that the Ghost from «Star Wars: Rebels» is in the picture when the Millennium Falcon flies in battle formation. I want to know what that ice planet is – and if it’s Darth Vader's helmet that Rey and Kylo are smashing in the trailer.

Jesus Christ. Ich want «Star Wars: Episode 9». Now.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 18 December 2019

Lost in Space: Season 2

I admit, this «Lost in Space» trailer is a bit older than a week. But I like the show. Very much so. And then the makers bring out a Season 2 trailer that guarantees goose bumps without me noticing?

I mean, don't we all want to know if the chicken survives? A true warrior, this chicken. Please Netflix, for the sake of humanity, don't kill the damn chicken!

Start date: 24 December 2019, Netflix

The Outsider

What looks like a clear case: the desecrated body of an eleven-year-old boy is found in the city park of Flint City. Detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn) has unambiguous DNA evidence. The culprit is Terry Maitland (Jason Bateman), a popular English teacher and coach of the youth baseball team.

But: Maitland has an alibi. He must have been in two places at the same time – the clues make no other conclusion possible. Either supernatural powers are involved, or this case is anything but clear.

«The Outsider» is a 10-part HBO series and film adaptation of the 2018 Stephen King book. I don't know it, so I don't know how it ends. But if the solution isn't the evil twin brother, I'm definitely looking forward to this series.

Start date: 12 January 2020, HBO Max

Bloodshot

Every movie with Vin Diesel in it is great, says editorial colleague Dominik. Most of them, I reply. Then he says that even his bad movies are kind of cool. Hmm. I don't want to contradict that. I mean: do you know a Vin Diesel movie that isn't somehow diesel-like worth seeing in its diesel-ness, as long as the popcorn-beer ratio is right?

We,, I don’t. And based on the trailer, the comic book adaptation «Bloodshot» doesn’t rely on beer nor popcorn to be cool. Diesel plays Ray Garrison, a soldier killed in battle and brought back to life as a superhero; an army of nanobots in his veins makes him unstoppable. But the company that controls his body also controls his mind and his memories. So what’s actually real – and what isn't?

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 20 February 2020

I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
