Bird-free: Twitter is now called X
Just last night, Elon Musk tweeted - sometimes cryptically, sometimes specifically - about rebranding the social media platform. Today this has already happened. Twitter is now called "X".
As of midday today, the new name is a fact. The short message service Twitter is now called "X". Owner Elon Musk decided on this and apparently implemented it, or had it implemented, in record time. It is unclear whether and who knew about these plans - and since when.

The public only learnt of these plans during the night. The Twitter owner made several posts about a rebranding. His posts alternated between concrete announcements about a rebranding and cryptic tweets. He first posted a message in which he announced that "we will soon be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and, gradually, to all the birds". This tweet was followed by confused-looking posts such as the simple term "Deus X". He later supplemented the previous tweet with the addition that "we'll go live with it (the name, editor's note) globally tomorrow if a good X logo is posted tonight".
A statement made in a Twitter space also follows this line: "We're cutting the Twitter logo out of the building with blowtorches," he announced verbally. As we can now see, they were apparently very serious and specific - which, based on Musk's previous ideas and tweets, could not necessarily be assumed.

The X logo now adorns the homepage instead of the bird and "x.com" automatically redirects to "Twitter.com". Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino also announced on the platform: "X is here! Let's do this.".

Various Twitter users jokingly suggest calling the platform "Twix" for the time being. A play on words with "Twitter" and "X", but also an allusion to the well-known sweet. It goes without saying that these tweets were also decorated with a picture of the chocolate bar. <p
