Product details
The Canon MAXIFY GX7050 is an excellent choice for small offices and home offices that require the high print quality of an inkjet printer while keeping consumable costs low. The refill system of the Canon G-series makes this possible: instead of traditional ink cartridges, it uses large-volume ink tanks. A single ink refill is sufficient for up to 6,000 pages in black and white or 14,000 pages in color – figures typically associated with laser printers. A complete set of ink is included in the package. Additionally, it features a good standard paper capacity of 600 sheets (spread across two standard trays and a multipurpose feeder) and an automatic duplex unit for paper-saving double-sided printing. Besides printing, the device can also scan, copy, and fax. Thanks to the 50-sheet duplex ADF scanner, scanning multi-page, double-sided documents is done in no time. It also shows great flexibility in terms of connectivity. In addition to USB direct connection, it supports both wireless and wired network integration as well as various mobile printing standards. Save the environment and your budget: this printer has a built-in duplex unit, allowing you to print double-sided quickly and without manual flipping, thus saving paper. This printer features a LAN connection, making it easy to integrate into your network for shared use. Wirelessly integrate the printer into your local network and use it collaboratively – all without the hassle of cables. The built-in Wi-Fi module makes this possible.

- All functions can be operated from the front
- Banner printing
- High ink supply
- Super low cost per page
- High equipment investment
- No A4 scan bed
Anyone looking for a printer for the home quickly realises that the price range is huge. The printers tested by Stiftung Warentest range from under 100 to over 1,000 euros. The differences in quality are just as great: while many good printers tested impress with razor-sharp text or brilliant photo prints, others disappoint with blurred, streaky print images, poor contrast or colour errors...
- High quality printing and scanning
- Duplex function
- Paper cassette
- High price
- No memory card reader
- prints somewhat loudly
The test winner from Canon is far too expensive for occasional printers, but if you print a lot, the Maxify GX7050 is just right for you. It prints texts, graphics and photos quickly and extremely cheaply. The Maxify also scores points with its extensive features: two paper cassettes that store the paper supply dust-free, an automatic document feeder and the option of double-sided printing.
- Fastest printer tested
- Paper cassette
- Automatic scanner feeder
- Very loud when printing
- Moderate colour fidelity in colour graphic printing
The Maxify GX4050 prints just as cheaply and just as well as the test winner. It was even slightly faster in the speed measurements. The GX4050 is noticeably smaller than the GX7050. On the other hand, the equipment has been economised: the display is smaller. In addition, the small Maxify only has one paper cassette. Not so nice: When printing, the Canon is very loud at 17.1 sone.

- compact design
- favourable cost per page
- large paper supply
- Full duplex equipment
- a little slow to print
The Canon Maxify GX7050 shines with excellent print quality, a large paper capacity and very good features, as long as you can do without borderless printing.

- 3 paper feeders
- Cardboard and banner printing
- Touch display
- Dual-band WLAN
- No borderless printing
- Massive housing
