Fujifilm X-T50 Body
40.20 Mpx, APS-C / DXProduct details
The
An advanced algorithm in combination with the back-illuminated 40.2 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor ensures fast image processing with high detail sharpness and improved noise behaviour. The pixel structure has been optimised so that more light reaches the sensor and a standard sensitivity of ISO 125 is achieved, which was previously only available as an extended sensitivity.
The electronic shutter of the X-T50 permits ultra-short exposure times of up to 1/180,000 of a second, which allows very precise control of the exposure. Even on bright days, it is possible to shoot with fast lenses at open aperture to achieve attractive sharpness effects.
The autofocus system of the X-T50 offers object-orientated subject recognition based on artificial intelligence. The algorithm developed using deep learning technology not only recognises and tracks people's faces and eyes, but also reliably keeps animals, birds, cars, motorbikes, bicycles, planes, trains, insects and drones*5 in focus.
The X-T50 has 20 film simulations, including "REALA ACE" for natural colour reproduction and high-contrast tonality. This means that numerous image styles are available, which can be selected to suit the respective scene, similar to analogue films.
The camera also offers a digital teleconverter*6, which utilises the high resolution of the 40.2 megapixel sensor to enlarge the subject by 1.4 or 2.0 times at the touch of a button.
The internal five-axis image stabiliser allows up to seven f-stops longer exposure times. Even in very low light, for example in the evening or at night, you can take sharp pictures freehand.
Videos can be recorded with the X-T50 in 6.2K quality at 30 frames per second. The tracking AF follows dynamic objects during film recording and keeps them reliably in focus.
In AUTO mode, the camera automatically recognises the subject and automatically selects the optimum shooting settings. Moving objects remain in focus without the photographer's intervention, making it easier to take photos and films. The mode can be activated at any time using a selection switch at the top of the camera body.

- Image quality at X-T5 level
- Fast autofocus
- Compact case
- Selector wheel for film simulations
- High resolution
- Body not weatherproof
The X-T50 clearly shows its close relationship to the X-T5 in many respects. The image sensor and image processor are identical and ensure very good image quality and high speed. However, you also have to make concessions compared to the X-T5. First and foremost, there is the weaker battery and the lack of weather resistance of the body. However, the X-T50 is the much more compact camera!
- The combination of the 40-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5 HR image sensor and the X-Processor 5 ensures first-class images and high AF performance, including AI moto detection and tracking. The camera scores points with its compact housing.
- The list price of 1,499 euros is a little too high. When comparing the current street prices, there is a difference of only 200 euros to the top model X-T5, but already around 600 euros to its direct predecessor, the X-T30 II, which is currently on sale for 899 euros.
The new X-T50 has both light and shade. One of its advantages is the high image quality, which corresponds to that of the top model X-T5. On the other hand, there are many little things that spoil the fun of the new model. These include the low viewfinder resolution, the retention of the small battery (instead of the larger version in the X-T50 or X-S20), the lack of a pixel-shift function, film simulation...
