Who doesn't know it? When you press a key on the keyboard all the way to the touch, you hear the characteristic clicking sound. In everyday life this happens quite often when writing. Therefore, soft O-rings made of rubber or silicone are very much in demand, especially for the popular mechanical keyboards, in order to reduce the background noise generated during typing.
These durable noise dampener rings are based on each keycap and cushion the keystroke so that the mechanical switch no longer collides with the switch housing. This slightly reduces the maximum key stroke of the Cherry MX switches. All in all, this results in a uniform, quieter key noise throughout and the cushioning reduces fatigue during longer writing sessions.
During installation, it is necessary to remove each individual keycap once (which is what they are made for). The base of each key is then fitted with one of the O-rings and the keycap is finally replaced. The rings are then strengthened by a sensitive pressure on the keys. Noise dampers are compatible with most Cherry MX switch keyboards and are made of tear-resistant, fatigue-resistant material.
