ZTE MU5001
ZTE MU5001
Many thanks for the tip.
There are two antenna connections for mobile reception. The first input is for 5g SA and is therefore currently of no use to you in Switzerland, as we only have 5g NSA so far. The second is for 5G NSA / LTE. In a review on amazon.de I found the following: -------- At first I was a bit desperate about the antenna connection because I thought it wouldn't work. But I have now received an answer from ZTE and have been able to test it successfully: Frequency bands supported by the interface: Interface 1: N77/78 TRX; Interface 2: N77/78 RX, LTE B1/3/7 RX I can confirm the feedback 100%. I have now carried out various tests by putting the router (for the test!) in a metal money box in a cellar room with extremely poor 4G reception and then mounting the external antenna (in my case the DMM-7-38-2TS9 from Panorama) on the cellar window. The fact is that port 1 cannot receive a 4G signal via an external antenna, but port 2 can. I then had about 4 times the internet speed with an external antenna (instead of 8Mb/sec then about 32Mb/sec). It didn't matter if both cables were connected or only one. However, I also found out that the antenna is only useful in situations where the router is in a bad position. With the antenna connected at the same location, no improvement is noticeable. Apparently the integrated antennas of the router are very good and do not need any further "support" and get the signal "directly". This can of course be different with better antennas - especially outdoor antennas. If my technical understanding is correct, then no MIMO reception is possible with external antennas on 4G/LTE, as only one antenna is controlled. That is a pity. With 5G, both antennas are controlled, then MIMO should also work. ----

The ZTE MU5001 supports 5G and could work with Sunrise, depending on the available frequencies. Sunrise mainly uses 5G NSA in Switzerland, which the MU5001 supports. As for the RJ45 connector, there is conflicting information. Some sources confirm the presence of an RJ45 port, while others question this. It is advisable to check the exact specification with the manufacturer or dealer.

The ZTE 5G Mobile WiFi Router MU5001 supports various 5G and 4G frequencies, but it is important to check if they are compatible with the networks available in the USA. - 5G frequencies: The device supports sub6G frequencies such as n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n66, n71 and mmWave frequencies such as n257, n258, n260, n261. However, in the USA, specific frequencies are used by the different suppliers, such as n71, n260 and n261, some of which might match. - 4G LTE frequencies: It supports LTE FDD and TDD frequencies, including B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B38, B40, B42 and B43. These frequencies are widely used in the USA and should be compatible with most suppliers. However, it is advisable to check with the local network provider in the USA before purchasing to ensure that the device supports all the required frequencies to ensure optimum performance.

Yes, you can use a Galaxus multi-SIM with the ZTE MU5001 5G MiFi router. Here are some important points that confirm that the device supports SIM cards: - The ZTE MU5001 is simlock-free, which means it is compatible with different SIM cards from different suppliers. - The device supports various 5G and LTE bands, which ensures broad compatibility with different networks. It is therefore possible to use a Galaxus multi-SIM in this router as long as the SIM card fulfils the supported frequencies and network standards of the ZTE MU5001.
Automatically generated from the .Hello, you need an additional card or data card. Swisscom additional card for mobile plan, connect router with provider afterwards. Multiple devices possible via Wifi router with password. Set the router to 4G and 5G. For 5G you need a 5G mobile!

No, the ZTE MU5001 router does not allow you to share the 5G connection via the USB cable supplied to a computer. The USB cable is mainly used to charge the router and can also be used for software updates, but it is not used to establish an Ethernet connection or to share the internet connection via USB.
Automatically generated from the .I use two magnetic base antennas from Panorama Antennas (LPBEM-6-60) on my van. Very good results.
Bought from Galaxus? Mine has the RJ45 connector and as far as I know the versions without the connector are only sold by the mobile phone providers!
Hello Does not support this device! Other brands can only be used via the APP settings. Have a look at Netgear Nighthak M1,2,5 or 6 LG
Ja, in "Quick Settings" den "Broadcast SSID" austicken
If you access the settings via the website, i.e. not on the device, you can select 'Quick settings' at the top. There you will find the option "Send SSID" which is ticked by default. So uncheck the box and save, done :-)
I would try to connect it to the computer and try to access it
Thanks for the answer, but, no, remotely via GSM, i.e. outside the WLAN network.
My ZTE router runs as a 5G input for older Fritzboxes 6890, I would try it with another powerline, it could be that Fritz does something special in terms of blocking, it's China's competition. 5G routers cost AVM around 500 Fr in Switzerland, although they should only cost 150 Fr, says AVM itself.
I have now been able to try out the ZTE MU5001 in concrete terms (the advanced settings are only available on the desktop browser or PC WebGUI, the mobile browser WebGUI is rather very reduced): - There are 3 WiFi SSID available, 1*2.4GHz and 1*5GHZ as well as 1*2.4GHZ guest access. For all 3 SSID, SSID name, password and SSID hide can be set separately (optional). For Wifi guest access, the device connected to it can optionally be automatically isolated from the other WiFi SSIDs via the firewall. - The internal IP network and the network range of the router can also be set as desired. The same applies to the associated DHCP range (IP4 and IP6). However, all 3 SSIDs share the same internal IP network (there is no possibility to define a separate IP network for the Wifi guest access). - There is no flight mode (as e.g. with Netgear AC810S). - The WebGUI in both desktop and mobile browser mode is "somewhat" unstructured (compared to the Netgear AC810S). - USB-C and Ethernet ports are without covers to protect against dust and lint deposits. Conclusion I can actually recommend the device. I cannot say what the device is capable of in terms of 5G, as this is problematic in the Italian networks (where I have now tested the device), as the feed lines to the 4G/5G antennas are very often overloaded from my own experience (max. 4G/5G signal but hardly any real data bandwidth - often over lunchtime and in the evening). .
There are Brending German Telekon or original manufacturers! In the end, they are all the same. Take the version for Fr 291.- cool device! You still have the right to return it. External antenna does not work. 5 G is only now and then but 4 G Plus is also very fast.
Thanks for the feedback. I have now bought the router from digitec and in the dashboard you can set the WLAN range to short, medium or high.
Hi, I got this device (ZTE MU5001 HyperMobile) in March 2023 for a "Slow Business Travel" by bike through mostly rural areas in Italy. I am very happy with it. The only thing that bothers me, now back in home use, is that you can't operate it without a battery inserted only via USB-C. In addition, ZTE's 'reverse charging' does not work for me, so the router cannot be misused as a power bank for the mobile. I don't know a precise answer to your two questions. Assumptions: 1. Far backwards compatible (802.11a). 2. It may only differ in terms of which GSM bands are supported, as there are differences between e.g. North America, China and Europe. The model here on Digitec is certainly suitable for Europe. Both models are listed on their global English page: - https://ztedevices.com/en-gl/mu5001/ - https://ztedevices.com/en-gl/mu5002/ Except for a slightly different display, I don't see any differences in specs (my assumption: 802.11ax = Wifi 6). Here is an English manual for ZTE MU5001 HyperMobile: https://support.ztedevices.com/en-gl/select-product/mu5001/
Hello, I have tried it with several computers with a VPN client on L2TP or OpenVPN and I have no problem to access my office remotely. However, I don't think you can directly install a VPN client inside the router (nor a fixed IP or DynDNS) to create a remote network.
