This means that they are not only convenient to carry with you throughout the day, but can also be easily stowed away in your trouser or smock pocket. In an age where everyone is reachable at all times, an extremely good, fast and reliable wireless connection option is standard equipment: especially with the EC50 and EC55. They impress with Wi-Fi connections in "cable quality". To achieve this, they combine 2x2 MU-MIMO, WorryFree Wi-Fi and Workforce Connect PTT Express - this ensures an almost instant response and makes the mobile computers fit for complex telephone applications. With Bluetooth and NFC, it only takes a single tap of the finger for the EC50/EC55 to read an ID card or connect to a printer. Bluetooth 5.0 also increases the performance of connected peripherals, as it offers significantly higher speed with an extended range. For field service, the EC55 also offers LTE and GPS as well as a nano and optional e-SIM card slot. In addition to the particularly powerful and advanced SD660 octa-core processor, the EC50 and EC55 also impress with a reliable voice and data application. The large memory provides enough space to store all kinds of data and consists of a 3 GB RAM and a 32 GB flash. Both storage media can be optionally expanded to 4 GB RAM and 64 GB flash. The mobile computers are equipped with a 3060 mAh battery as standard, which is ready for use for up to 10 hours when fully charged. An extended battery with 4180 mAh is available as required. This increases readiness for use to up to 13 hours when fully charged - perfect for long working days. The EC50 and EC55 are optionally equipped with an omnidirectional 2D scanner for capturing all common 1D and 2D barcodes. Thanks to its SE4100 scan module, this scanner impresses with fast and reliable scanning results. The 13 MP colour camera with LED flash and autofocus on the back of the mobile computers also makes it easier to capture detailed photos and videos for documenting proof of condition, return receipts and more. There is an optional 5 MP camera with fixed focus on the front. The 5" HD display of the EC50/EC55 offers plenty of space for information and is easy to read even in adverse conditions thanks to its 450 nits. The capacitive multi-touch support makes using the interface very simple and intuitive. Another major advantage: the touch panel and scanner window are almost completely waterproof and dustproof thanks to the integrated Corning Gorilla Glass. They are also particularly scratch and impact resistant and can even be additionally protected against potential drop damage with the optional protective cover.
