This is not a quality defect. Hollow fibres shrink depending on the type of use, regardless of supplier or brand. The reasons for this are on the one hand the expansion of the cotton fabric, and on the other hand the wear of the polyester-hollow fibre mixture. Both effects diminish over time. Basically, the higher the applied weight, the stronger and faster the shrinkage. If, for example, you put the breastfeeding pillow "around the front" or use it as a baby nest, you will notice practically no shrinkage. Since a large proportion of expectant mothers use the pillow to support the side position before the birth, the Theraline breastfeeding and positioning pillows are filled a little more than would be necessary for breastfeeding. A loss of volume until breastfeeding is desirable to a certain extent in order to increase the flexibility of the pillow for use as a breastfeeding pillow. The following illustration is intended to show how a Theraline breastfeeding and positioning pillow can be used sensibly even after extensive use, depending on the degree of filling. Filling pillows without a refill opening All breastfeeding pillows with hollow polyester fibre filling are sewn shut. If you want to refill the pillow, you must first open the closing seam. The best way to do this is with pointed scissors, e.g. nail scissors. The actual refilling can then be done in the same way as with the nursing pillows with refill opening.
