The long-hair permanent filter protects the pump from coarse dirt, hair and food residues. It also gives the pump additional support and reduces the operating noise of the pump. As the filter has a shelf life of several months, it should be thoroughly washed or boiled at least once a week, or poured over with boiling water so that it remains germ-free and clean. A large circumferential silicone intermediate ring, which is pulled onto the edge of the lower shell, ensures that both shells lie "softly" on top of each other, making the Lucky-Kitty ceramic fountain even quieter.
