Product details
The Ficus Lyrata has been one of the most popular houseplants for decades. The plant is easily recognized by its large leaves. Because the leaves have a narrow base and a broader tip, the plant is also known as the fiddle leaf fig. When the leaves are dried, they can be used for the outer wrapper of cigars. This also explains the plant's second nickname, the tobacco plant. The Ficus Lyrata originally comes from the African rainforests, where it can grow up to 20 meters tall and its leaves can reach up to 50 cm in size.
Care
The Ficus Lyrata loves the sun. It prefers a spot in front of a window; the more light, the better. When watering, it is better not to give the plant too much water at once. It is best to keep the soil slightly moist. It is not a problem if the soil dries out a bit. Additionally, the fiddle leaf fig prefers high humidity, so it is advisable to mist the plant occasionally. Choose a location out of reach of children and pets, as the leaves are mildly toxic and can cause skin irritation if ingested. The Ficus Lyrata can grow up to 3 meters tall indoors.
