Product details
At her launch on 14 February 1939 and her commissioning in August 1940, the Bismarck was the largest and most powerful battleship in the world. Together with her sister ship Tirpitz, she formed the Bismarck
class. On 24.01.1941 she was declared ready for action, but could not sail because of a sunk ore freighter. In May 1941, she went on a mission to the North Atlantic, where she succeeded in sinking the British battle cruiser HMS Hood on the morning of 24 May 1941. During this engagement, she was shot through the forecastle, which did not detonate, but blocked a fuel line and caused over 3,000t of seawater to enter the forecastle. With a slight list and acute fuel shortage, the Bismarck aborted the mission and set course for the French port of Saint-Nazaire. Only 3 days later, she was engaged by a British fleet under Admiral John C. Tovey and finally forced to self-sink. Model with 2789 parts, partly printed building blocks, understandable building instructions.
