The sunny side of the house has its darker side in summer: It gets unbearably hot behind glass surfaces. An air conditioner can help. Stiftung Warentest tested ten air conditioning units - five permanently installed split units and five mobile monobloc units, which are more suitable for single hot days. Split appliances cool rooms much faster and at significantly lower electricity costs. However, at 1,360 to 2,820 euros, they also cost more than monoblocks, which are available for 350 to 825 euros.
