GPS tracker tested
GPS trackers are small devices that can be attached to a pet's collar or to valuables such as a bicycle. The trackers use the GPS positioning system to determine their location and send it to the tracker supplier's server via mobile radio. This forwards the location data to an associated smartphone app - the user can see where their dog is on a digital map, for example. We tested nine GPS trackers - six for animals and three for objects. The quality ratings range from good to sufficient. The test winner locates very accurately and reliably and is easy to use. Other models were less convincing when it came to tracking. We also tested the best-known tracker as an example: Apple's AirTag. It determines its position not via GPS, but via Bluetooth.
