Four lightweight tents in a practical test
Hardly any other product category benefits as much from the development of high-performance lightweight materials as trekking tents, as the four models we tested underline impressively; they are among the best in their weight classes: All four tents held up well in weeks of continuous rain and didn't buckle in heavy gusts. What's more, with a little practice they can be pitched within a few minutes and impress with their clever details. The Sea to Summit Alto TR2 Plus weighs just 1480 grams, but offers enough space for two people and doesn't give in even in adverse weather conditions. The slightly heavier Vaude Space is not quite as comfortable, but has an even more durable outer fabric made of silicone nylon and a more robust floor - just like the tents from Tatonka and Bach. The Bach Moa Lite (1980 g), available from spring 2024, combines low weight with comfort better than any other test candidate, while the Tatonka Rokua (2985 g) is nice and spacious even for three people.
