Anker surprises with affordable robot hoover
Suction station, self-cleaning mops, powerful vacuum cleaner: The Eufy Clean X10 Omni from Anker offers everything that modern robots need to be able to do for around 800 francs or euros.
The new robot hoover from the Anker sub-brand Eufy not only has everything that is technically possible today built in. It also offers a speciality that you won't find almost anywhere else. It's called the "Active Detangling Roller Brush". This means that the fast-rotating scrubbing brush removes hair from the bottom of the robot itself so that nothing gets stuck. This is particularly exciting for households with animals.
Anker presented the Eufy Clean X10 Omni for the first time at the CES technology trade fair in Las Vegas. It will be launched on the market in February. At a price that makes you sit up and take notice. 799 euros in Europe - around 800 francs. This is particularly astonishing because the robot offers everything that is otherwise only included in this combination in top models costing over 1000 francs.
Basic station vacuums, cleans the mops and refills water
The X10 Omni comes with a large base station. This is where the dust and dirt is vacuumed up. Into a dust bag with a capacity of 2.7 litres. There are also two built-in tanks for fresh water and waste water. According to the manufacturer, the robot can run autonomously for up to seven days if you continuously vacuum. If you only vacuum, it can run for up to 60 days. Only then do you have to refill the water tank, empty the waste water and change the bag.
The robot itself is advertised as having a powerful suction power of 8000 Pascal - similar to that of the top models. It also has two mops that are cleaned in the station and dried with hot air. The X10 Omni has to return to the station less often than other models, as it can also moisten the cleaning pads on the go thanks to the built-in water tank.
No data from the home in the cloud
As a speciality, the Eufy can rotate the pentagonal, interlocking mops at 180 revolutions per minute in case of heavy soiling. The pads can also apply up to one kilogram of pressure to the floor. To prevent the mops from dragging across the carpet, they can be raised up to 1.2 centimetres.
The X10 Omni uses a camera and laser for navigation. Thanks to LEDs, the robot can also find its way in the dark. It can use artificial intelligence to recognise over 100 objects and avoid them during cleaning - including animal droppings. What is also interesting is that, according to the manufacturer, all data is processed directly on the device. Data protection and privacy are maintained and nothing is uploaded to the cloud.
By the way: Samsung also unveiled a new robot vacuum at CES, which uses steam as a speciality.
