E3 2017 Day 4: All the news and trailers from Nintendo and co.
New trailers and news from the E3 game fair in Los Angeles have been bubbling up since Saturday. So that you don't have to search for long, you can find all the highlights here at a glance and constantly updated. Today the focus is on Nintendo, who were the last of the major manufacturers to present their new games on Tuesday evening.
That's it
There won't be much more exciting information to follow, so I'll stop with the updates here. It was definitely another jam-packed E3. I'm finally going to watch all the trailers myself :).
"Vampyr"
15:40: In this dark action adventure, you roam through dark alleys as Vampyr. Whether you play as the bloodthirsty undead or prefer to be cautious when it comes to the consumption of walking blood influences the course of the game. The game is due to be released in November for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
20 minutes with "Life is Strange: Before the Storm"
14:10: The following gameplay demo shows how the prequel to the teen drama adventure plays. The first of three episodes lands on 31 August.
Zombies are coming to "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds"
13:25: Zombies will soon be running around in the all-against-all multiplayer game. But in a separate mode. The zombies will also be controlled by the players. There is no date for the update yet.
Alternative game scenes for "Days Gone"
12:45pm: Developer Bend Studio has shown the same demo as at Sony's press conference again. This time, however, they have taken a different path. So the game doesn't just offer one approach. There is still no release date for the PS4.
"Fate/EXTELLA: The Umbral Star" for the Switch
12:00 pm: After PS4 and PS Vita, the Japanese action adventure game is also coming to the Switch. Colourful mass battles with quirky characters and exuberant special effects await you. Released on 25 July.
New avatars for Xbox Live
11:00am: Soon you'll have new animated avatars to choose from on Windows 10 and your Xbox One that you can customise. Looks really amusing.
"Dragon Ball FighterZ"
10:55 am: There were new gameplay scenes of the frenetic fighting game at E3. At the beginning of 2018, PC, Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to give each other a beating.
New Amiibos
10:45 am: New Amiibos have been unveiled for both "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Zelda: Breath of the Wild". The collecting frenzy continues.
"Rocket League"
10:30 am: After PC, Xbox One and PS4, the ingenious car football game also lands on the Switch - including cross-play function. There will also be new car decorations and new vehicles. Release is planned for this year.
"Splatoon 2" tournament
10:20 am: Nintendo is actively trying to anchor the multiplayer colour shooter in the e-sports scene. To this end, the Inkling Invitational took place. Here you can see the final between Japan and the USA. On 21 July, you can load the colour cartridges on your Switch yourself.
"Arms"
10:15 am: "Arms" will be released for the Switch in just a few days. To get you in the mood for this unusual fighting game, here is a 30-minute demo of it.
"Fire Emblem Warriors"
10:10 am: Unfortunately, I've only played the recently released mobile version and that probably doesn't count as a benchmark. The battles with the numerous different heroes certainly look very fun in the Nintendo Switch version. Still to come this autumn.
There is also a longer demo of this
"Xenoblade Chronicles 2"
9:30 am: The sequel to the popular Wii role-playing game from 2011 is getting a successor this year. Switch players will be able to prove themselves in epic battles at the end of the year.
Too short, isn't it? Here, 40 minutes long demo
"Metroid: Samus Returns"
8:55 am: You won't have to wait much longer to control Samus on the 3DS. While the Switch version is still a while away, "Metroid: Samus Returns", an action-packed sidescroller, will be released on 15 September. I would even unpack my 3DS XL for this one.
"Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle"
8:50 a.m. A 20-minute demo of the upcoming strategy game revealed a lot of clowning around, but also tactical depth. The "XCOM"-like game brings together Super Mario and the crazy Rabbids and could be quite entertaining. We'll find out on 29 August - if you have a Switch.
"Metroid Prime 4"
8:45 am: Yes, what do we have here? Nintendo still had a few surprises in store. A new "Metroid" was announced on Tuesday. Unfortunately, there's nothing really to see yet. But the anticipation is aroused. Still without a date.
Expansion for "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild"
8:42 am: The first of two expansions is called "Master Trials". It not only contains new challenges, as the name suggests, but also numerous new armours. The first DLC will be available on 30 June.
"Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga"
8:40 am: Nintendo has not forgotten the millions of 3DS and 2DS players. In "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga" you have to find Princess Peach's voice again by solving various puzzles together with Luigi. It starts on 6 October.
Here is some more detailed gameplay
"Kirby"
8:35 am: Simply called "Kirby", the gluttonous pink hero hops through a colourful world with up to three companions in the latest adventure. The co-operative part adds a few interesting mechanics. Due to be released in 2018 for the Switch.
"Yoshi"
8:15 am: A new cuddly "Yoshi" game is on the way. And in a magical paper look. The platform game is set to come to the Switch in 2018.
"Sonic Forces"
8:10 am: Once again, a new "Sonic" game is released. Hopefully a decent one for a change. What's on show looks quite fun, but I remain sceptical. Coming for PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Switch at the end of the year.
Here's the gameplay video
"Super Mario Odyssey"
8:05 am: As expected, Nintendo has unveiled the next true 3D "Super Mario". The game should be pretty weird, judging by the first videos. And definitely creative. I am excited. The game will be released on 27 October for the Nintendo Switch.
Here you can see a detailed demo
And another one
Nintendo Spotlight
8:00 am: Nintendo's media event is called Spotlight and in 25 minutes they show the most important news. In their subsequent Treehouse show, they went into detail about the numerous games on show.
Here are the trailers from the last few days
Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
