From click to delivery: a glimpse behind the scenes of the Galaxus warehouse
So what happens after you click «Buy now»? The processes behind the scenes at our warehouse in Wohlen are highly complex and the shelves jam-packed. From fully automated robots to hundreds of dedicated employees, our new video series offers a rare glimpse into this high-tech world.
In our ten-part video series, we’ll be showing you step by step which journey your order goes on before leaving our warehouse. Discover how machines, people and technology work together to get your parcel on its way on time. Click the gear icon, «Subtitles/CC» and «Auto-translate» to watch the videos in your preferred language.
The receiving area
Everything starts at the receiving area. This is where all the products are delivered to us by our suppliers and unpacked by our employees. Once this is done, the items are placed on conveyor belts and sent off to various areas of our warehouse.
From picking to packing
The pick-to-pack area is where large products are temporarily stored and heaved out again as soon as they’ve been ordered. All the heavy lifting is done by forklift trucks. This part of the warehouse has 54,000 storage spaces. At peak times, you’ll see multiple forklift trucks zipping through the aisles.
Shuttle
Things are about to get complex. In this area, 200 robots move thousands of boxes back and forth in a storage system that offers space for 120,000 products. The robots transport boxes filled with ordered items to the workstations where they’re prepared for dispatch.
The second part of the series will follow in a week’s time. We’ll be accompanying a technician to find out how things work in the most modern and largest part of the warehouse to date. Don’t want to miss the next video? Then simply click on «Follow» next to my author bio.

As a Multimedia Producer, preparing multimedia content and knowing about cutting-edge technology is my business. My main focus at digitec is producing videos. I can’t wait to try out new products such as cameras, drones or smartphones as soon as they’re launched. This is where being at the source comes in rather handy. When I’m not working, I’m probably skiing, biking or hiking – the mountains are my place to be.
