Less electrical waste thanks to warranty extension insurance

From now on, Galaxus offers a warranty extension insurance for selected electrical appliances. This saves you money and extends the lifespan of appliances. In the event of a defect, the insurance will repair or replace the appliance free of charge, even after the statutory warranty has expired.

Notebooks, mobile phones and vacuum cleaners have one thing in common: they often break down shortly after the warranty has expired. This costs money and causes unnecessary electronic waste. After all, many devices could be repaired easily and at low cost. This is why Galaxus, in cooperation with its insurance partners Helvetia and bolttech, is now offering its customers a warranty extension insurance for electrical appliances. The insurance covers technical faults due to material, design and manufacturing defects for a chosen period after the statutory warranty has expired.

Sustainability in mind

Here’s what this looks like: if you have a warranty extension insurance and, let’s say, your TV has a defective pixel, you can send it in. It will be repaired by our expert service centre partners and sent back to you. «We want to avoid causing unnecessary electronic waste,» says Victoria Inversini, Business Engineer After Sales at Digitec Galaxus. «Thanks to warranty extension insurances, fewer devices are thrown away. Instead, they’re repaired at no charge during the extended warranty period.» If an appliance can’t be repaired, it’s replaced with a new one. The old appliance isn’t thrown away, but is used as spare parts stock or is recycled professionally.

The warranty score on galaxus.de indicates which products it’s worth getting a warranty extension insurance for.
