OnePlus 10 Pro: (Almost) all important data known
The protracted presentation of the OnePlus 10 Pro is almost complete. All details about the equipment are now known, only information about the price and availability is still missing.
On January 5, OnePlus announced the most important features of the OnePlus 10 Pro. The complete spec sheet follows in a public presentation for the Chinese market, which answers the last questions about the equipment. Beyond that, there are more details about camera features.
Display and storage
Regarding the touchscreen of the OnePlus 10 Pro, it was only known so far that it has an AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 hertz. The manufacturer still withheld the size of 6.7 inches and the resolution of 3216×1440 pixels.
That also applies to the storage variants. In China, the 10 Pro will optionally appear with 8 and 128, 8 and 25, or 12 and 256 gigabytes of working memory and internal storage. OnePlus had already announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as the processor before.
The same goes for the 5000 mAh battery (divided into two 2500 mAh batteries), fast charging with 80 watts (cable) or 50 watts (wireless) Android 12 with OxygenOS as operating system and three cameras on the back.
Camera features
OnePlus also already revealed the resolutions of the cameras, but only announced further details and special features later.
The 48-megapixel main camera uses Sony's IMX789 as the image sensor. Its aperture of f/1.8 is large and its focal length corresponds to 23 millimeters in 35mm format. OnePlus relies on Samsung's JN1 Isocell sensor for the 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It is supposed to record a viewing angle of 150 degrees. The 8-megapixel telephoto camera enables an optical 3.3x zoom. OnePlus relies on Sony's IMX615 image sensor for the 32-megapixel front camera.
OnePlus continues to work with camera manufacturer Hasselblad for the 10 Pro. The result of this collaboration is a Pro Mode in the camera app that supports RAW+ as a file format and the "OnePlus Billion Color Solution". This is a color calibration with over one billion colors. For comparison: The usual monitors and smartphone displays work with 16.7 million colors. The OnePlus 10 Pro is thus the second smartphone with a 10-bit color depth after the Oppo Find X3. Compared to its predecessor, the 10 Pro is said to cover the DCI-P3 color space 25 percent higher and process 64 times more colors - with all three cameras on the back.
This puts the OnePlus 10 Pro so far ahead of the curve that you'll only be able to open photos in HEIF format with this color depth on the smartphone itself, as well as - according to OnePlus - only the latest iMac.
Price and availability
OnePlus will start selling the 10 Pro in China on January 13. It is expected to hit the market worldwide in "later in 2022." Exactly when and at what price is not yet known, though. The Chinese prices of the equivalent of 650 to 733 Euros or 682 to 769 Swiss Francs are higher after the import, according to experience.
When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
