Pia's picks: Cork - the secret hero in the living room
Coaster, pin board or floor covering - cork is rarely in the limelight. But the material also has a lot to offer in other forms, such as table tops, cabinet fronts or stools.
Cork is a secret recipe for cosiness - it's not always immediately noticeable, but it makes all the difference. It offers a blend of warmth and style that makes your home cosier.
An insulation wonder
The material made from the bark of the cork oak is a real all-rounder. It is sustainable and clever, as the tree remains intact during harvesting. Thanks to its foam-like structure, cork is light as a feather and a master of insulation: it keeps heat and cold at bay, absorbs noise and allows water to roll off. This is why it is often used as a floor or wall covering. Cork is also resistant to rotting, mould and insects. It does not burn easily and does not release toxic gases in the event of a fire. But that's not all. Cork also scores with its appearance.
The chameleon in interior design
Whether as a building material, piece of furniture or decoration - cork integrates seamlessly into any room, like a secret spice that adds a warm, organic touch to any ambience.
