Xiaomi 12 unveiled: Pro version with larger display and more megapixels
by Jan Johannsen
Xiaomi has unveiled four new smartphones in the Redmi Note 11 series: Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 11 Pro, Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11 S. The differences are sometimes small, but with a big impact.
The two Pro models are identical except for the processor. However, the Mediatek Helio G96 in the Redmi Note 11 Pro only works with 4G. That is why Xiaomi has added the 5G version with the Snapdragon 695 to its lineup.
The Redmi Note 11 and Note 11 5G feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 hertz.
The main camera with a resolution of 108 megapixels is joined by an ultra-wide-angle camera with 8 megapixels and a macro camera with 2 megapixels. The Redmi Note 11 Pro adds a fourth camera for depth of field (2 megapixels). The front cameras each take selfies with 16 megapixels.
The Redmi Note 11 S has the same camera setup as the Note 11 Pro and also the Mediatek Helio G96. However, it is smaller. Its AMOLED display measures 6.43 inches diagonally. The resolution remains at 2400×1080 pixels, but the refresh rate is reduced to 90 hertz.
The same screen is also used in the Redmi Note 11. However, it is equipped with the Snapdragon 680 and the main camera only has a resolution of 50 megapixels. In addition, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth-of-field camera, just like in the other models. The front camera has 13 megapixels.
All Redmi Note 11s appear in three storage variants. On the Note 11 Pro 5G, 11 Pro and 11S, you can choose between the following combinations of RAM and internal storage: 6 GB + 64 GB, 6 GB + 128 GB or 8 GB + 128 GB. For the Redmi Note 11, it is 4 GB + 64 GB, 4 GB + 128 GB, and 6 GB + 128 GB.
Xiaomi installs a 5000 mAh battery in all four models of the Redmi Note 11. There are only differences in the charging speed. While the two Pro variants charge with up to 67 watts, the other two only charge with 33 watts.
Other common features of the four Redmi Note 11s are an IP53 certification that certifies them protection against water spray, a fingerprint sensor on the side, and a 3.5 mm port for headphones.
Xiaomi ships the Redmi Note 11 with MIUI 13. This is the latest version of the in-house user interface. However, it is still based on Android 11 in the four smartphones and not yet on Android 12 - like in the Xiaomi 12.
When exactly and at which prices the four variants of the Redmi Note 11 will be available here, Xiaomi will only reveal later. However, the manufacturer announced that the Note 11S and Note 11 will be available in January, and the Note 11 Pro and 11 Pro 5G will follow in February.
When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
