Robert Brohl now Head of Supply Chain Management at Digitec Galaxus

Robert Brohl took on the newly created position of «Head of Supply Chain Management» at Digitec Galaxus on 1 January 2022. This will strengthen Galaxus’s cross-border ties and further expand the company, with the aim of finding qualified professionals to drive its growth plans.

On 1 January 2022, Robert Brohl, previously Head of Operations at Galaxus Deutschland, took on the newly created position of Head of Supply Chain Management for parent company Digitec Galaxus in Switzerland. Until now, 36-year-old Robert was responsible for logistics services in Germany and Austria as well as for establishing and expanding customer service. During this time, he played a fundamental role in shaping order processing and returns management at Galaxus Deutschland. «Robert successfully navigated the Krefeld operations teams through the last 1.5 years of massive growth,» says Michael Stolle, Chief Operations Officer at Digitec Galaxus. «I’m 100% sure that he’ll make a big difference for our entire group in his new position.»

In his new role, Robert Brohl is setting up cross-border supply chain management. Together with his team, he’s also optimising the flow of information and goods from manufacturer to end customer. He’s responsible for the first and last mile. In other words, the delivery of products to both our warehouses and our end customers. This involves all processes that ensure products reach our warehouses and those related to the delivery of articles, such as post or parcel services. His focus is on Switzerland and other markets. «I’ll also be working on many other topics at the interface between Category Management and Finance,» adds Robert Brohl. He plans to centralise and strengthen operations planning and controlling in collaboration with other departments in an effort to plan the sales volume of each article or category as accurately as possible. «The closer we understand our sales expectations, the better we can respond to them in logistics. I hope to have exciting conceptual discussions, for example, about whether it makes sense to stock a certain product along with the associated costs.»

In his new role, Brohl will take on many responsibilities in Switzerland. Although this undoubtedly brings the international logistics departments at Galaxus closer together, the Switzerland/Liechtenstein and Germany/Austrian markets will continue to be supplied separately. In addition to his new tasks, Brohl will continue to be responsible for logistics as site manager in Krefeld.

Robert, who has a PhD in logistics, is optimistic about the future: «I’m convinced that together we’ll be quick to find and establish ways of serving our customers even more reliably without sacrificing any of the profitability we have today.» Robert Brohl’s existing teams will be integrated into the global functions so they can fully tap into the expertise at Digitec Galaxus.

Galaxus Deutschland continues to grow strongly – experts wanted!
Galaxus has been active in Germany since 2018. The online department store experienced strong growth and exceeded its ambitious targets. Since October 2021, Austrian shoppers have galaxus.at. Galaxus supplies customers in both Austria and Germany from its warehouse in Krefeld, Germany.

This year, Galaxus will significantly expand its warehouse surface in Krefeld, as the current 5,500 square metres are bursting at the seams. As a result, logistics is seeing an increase in demand for skilled workers to help drive growth.
