Santa to bring Lego, game consoles and Apple gadgets this year

Search queries from Digitec and Galaxus customers are giving us a good indication of what will go under our Christmas trees this year. The most sought-after items are Lego sets, Sony and Nintendo game consoles, Apple smartphones and headphones and Dyson hairdryers and vacuum cleaners.

Christmas is just a few weeks away – and Digitec Galaxus already knows what you’re going to find in your stocking on the big day. Lifting the lid on this year’s festive surprises? A glance at the online retailer’s customer search behaviour in the week from 22 - 28 November.

This year’s stats reveal that Lego sets are yet again in particularly high demand. Lego, Lego Technic and Playmobil have been topping the pre-Christmas rankings by a long shot for a number of years now. In the French- and Italian-speaking parts of Switzerland, Lego’s Star Wars sets also nabbed a place in the top 10. The company secured the licence for Yoda, Darth Vader and Leia in 1999.

Gotta catch ‘em all

All over Switzerland, children and the young-at-heart are crazy about Pokémon, with the fantasy franchise having released two new games for the Nintendo Switch in November.

Speaking of the Switch, the console has made it into the Christmas gift charts for the third year running. Sony’s Playstation 5 also made the cut – and now even boasts reasonably good availability. Last Christmas, the console was only available in Europe in drips and drabs.

Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree

Rather unsurprisingly, various Apple products have made the top 10. There’ll be plenty of iPhones, iPads and AirPods under Christmas trees this year – especially in Germany, where the top 10 charts are populated solely with Apple products. They’ll be joined by Dyson vacuum cleaners, hairdryers, curling tongs and humidifiers, as well as Sonos lamps and speakers, and Philips Hue lamps.

What’s on your Christmas list this year? What will you be putting into your kids’ stockings? And what would you prefer not to see under the tree this Christmas? Let us know in the comments!
