Nikon D780

24.50 Mpx, Full frame

Product details

Realise your vision. The D780 offers everything you would expect from a high-quality digital SLR camera - and goes far beyond. Brilliant vision.
Large battery capacity. Robust construction. Plus two fast, reliable autofocus systems with phenomenal focus tracking, a wide ISO range and much more. Spontaneous or posed. Photos or films. This full-frame D-SLR is the continuation of a success story.

The D780 full-frame camera incorporates a fast hybrid AF system specifically for Live View shooting and a fast, reliable autofocus system with phase detection for viewfinder photography. In Live View, the high-precision autofocus system provides 273 focusing points at sensor level as well as eye AF. When shooting with the viewfinder, you can rely on Nikon's high-performance autofocus system with 51 focusing areas and top-class focus tracking. The autofocus system with phase detection and 51 focusing areas has a sensitivity of up to -3 EV. In the bright optical viewfinder, you can follow the action to be captured sharply and in real time. For moving subjects, the camera focuses at lightning speed - even in low light. In viewfinder photography, the 51-point autofocus system allows quick adjustment and fast switching between advanced autofocus modes. The focus group control system captures subjects quickly and isolates them from the background with impressive reliability.

The dust and splash-proof full-frame DSLR Nikon D780 is superior to its predecessor, the D750, in many respects, not least in terms of image quality. Its features should be sufficient for most applications. Anyone who has got used to the built-in flash unit will now need a clip-on flash...

  • PositiveThe D780's SLR autofocus system is very fast, helping nature and sports photographers. You get first-class quality images - and have full control at all times thanks to the optical viewfinder.
  • NegativeThe mirror system and massive overall construction make for a high weight and more housing volume compared to mirrorless cameras. Unfortunately, the monitor can only be folded, but not swivelled to the side or forwards.

Anyone who decides in favour of an SLR camera in these times does so quite consciously. The advantages of an optical SLR system are also with the Nikon 0780 a completely delay-free and flicker-free view of the viewfinder image and the virtually unlimited resolution of the analogue viewfinder image...

The Nikon D780 is not only a robust, ergonomic, super-equipped full-frame DSLR with very good image quality, but also a successful symbiosis of DSLR and mirrorless system camera. Because as soon as you activate the live image, you benefit from all the shooting advantages that come with a mirrorless system camera: A precise yet fast autofocus including face and eye detection, a very fast continuous...
