Product details
Put your vision into action. The D780 offers everything you expect from a high-quality digital SLR camera - and goes far beyond. Brilliant vision.
Large battery capacity. Robust construction. Add to that two fast, reliable autofocus systems with phenomenal focus tracking, a wide ISO range and much more. Spontaneous or contrived. Photos or movies. This full format D-SLR is the continuation of a success story.
The D780 full-frame camera includes a fast hybrid AF system specifically designed for live view shooting and a fast, reliable autofocus system with phase detection for viewfinder photography. In live view, the high-precision autofocus system provides 273 measuring fields at sensor level and eye AF. When shooting with the viewfinder, you can rely on Nikon's powerful 51-point autofocus system and world-class focus tracking.
The autofocus system with phase detection and 51 measuring fields has a sensitivity ranging down to -3 LW. In the bright optical viewfinder, you can follow the action you want to capture sharply and in real time. With moving subjects, the camera adjusts focus at lightning speed - even in low light.
In viewfinder photography, the 51-point autofocus system allows quick adjustment and fast switching between advanced autofocus modes. The measuring field group control quickly captures motifs and isolates them impressively safely from the background.
When recording in live view, the hybrid AF system covers approx. 90% of the image section in horizontal and vertical direction with 273 spot sizes each. Thanks to the tiltable monitor you can take pictures from almost any angle. It also allows the autofocus to be triggered and operated via touch function.
The hybrid AF system with 273 spot sizes works with a sensitivity of up to -4 LW, provided the lens has a speed of at least 1:2. For really dark subjects, you can activate "Autofocus with low light" and shoot down to -6 EV with automatic exposure.
When you shoot in Live View, the sophisticated hybrid AF system with Eye AF can capture the eyes of portrayed people and keep them in focus. Even in a crowd. You select the eye to be focused with the multifunction selector. The camera keeps the focus on this eye even if the person is constantly in motion.
