Yes, the SureFlap cat door XXL (microchip cat flap) offers the option of selectively controlling access. It has an electronic override lock and various settings that allow you to control whether your cat can only go outside or inside, or whether it can come in and out freely. - You can keep the cat indoors for several days or prevent it from leaving the house again for the rest of the day after an excursion. - There are four different settings that allow you to configure access according to your needs.

Regarding your question ' I have unfortunately only been able to switch between going out freely or going in freely without a chip with the battery in the flap. However, there are also large flaps without electrical chip recognition as well as for small dogs.

Hello Sharonkim, here is an extract from the German instructions: The SureFlap pet flap is ideally suited for installation in single and double glazing. If this requires cutting an opening in a pane, a specialist glazier must be engaged as this requires specialist knowledge. For the opening in a pane, the ideal diameter is 300 mm. A mounting adapter is available to complete the installation in glass panes. This covers openings from 294 mm to 320 mm diameter, as shown in figure 10.

Hello Lusakr, yes, the pet flap has 2 fuses on the inside and 2 on the outside. Theoretically, it might be possible for your cat to open the flap inwards, but I can't really imagine it because he can only grab the flap at the outer edge, he must be very skilled... I don't think it's possible to open it by pressing against the flap, because the flap is very stable. My three Maine Coon mongrels have never managed to get out with the flap closed. However, you also have the option of closing the flap completely (neither in nor out), but there is no mode for this. You would have to switch this on and off again by pressing a button.

Yes, here's the description: The SureFlap microchip flap for dogs and cats is ideal for both large cats and small dogs. A built-in sensor reads the microchip implanted in your pet and doesn't let any strangers through. You can also use the cat flap with the included RFID collar pendant.

I requested information from the product department but unfortunately they could not find this information. However, the hole in the glass must be 300mm at most 320mm.

Our door is installed in the former air intake of the heating system, i.e. from the light well into the boiler room. I have never investigated the energy losses. Here are the results of a short infrared measurement; Outside temperature 4 degrees Room temperature 20 degrees Surface temperatures: - Damper 14 degrees - Damper casing 17 degrees - Basement wall 17 degrees

It does not. However, the times at which the door is opened and closed can be programmed. In my house, for example, the cats can go in and out from 08:00 to 18:00. Between 18:01 and 07:59 they can only go in. I would recommend the sureflap.

Helpful answer

Dear Marc Jiarong is right. Out goes for all, in only for the chipped cat. However, we did not receive a collar tag with the delivery, which is also supposed to work. Besides, I don't think a collar is ideal, especially for a young cat. She could get stuck with it when climbing.... Maybe it's easiest if you chip her as well. Have fun with your cats
