7 slow cookers in a comparison test
Do you want a vegetarian chilli sin carne, sweet and spicy pulled pork or authentic Italian ragù alla bolognese? With a modern slow cooker or Crock Pot, all you have to do is throw all the ingredients together in the morning to enjoy a great meal in the evening - without the slightest effort involved in the cooking and braising process. Slow cookers are becoming more and more popular in our time, when hectic seems to be omnipresent: this expresses people's desire for "deceleration". We have now tested how this can be achieved in cooking with the help of seven modern slow cookers. The electrically heated pots work at moderate temperatures of below 100.0°C so that food is cooked and stewed gently. So it's not surprising that the cooking and braising process can take 6 to 8 hours. The advantage of a slow cooker? It's certainly the gentle cooking and braising method, which preserves the original flavours of the individual foods; and of course this is also noticeable in the taste, because dishes from the slow cooker usually taste much more intense and "fuller". In addition, many slow cookers have such a large capacity that several people can be served at the same time. Read on to find out which of the slow cookers we tested completely convinced the testers.
