It took me weeks to finally get the hang of the DJI Pocket 2. Even though it’s intuitive, I just couldn’t remember how to operate it. Experiencing the same? Here's my cheat sheet.

If you know the Pocket 2 or its predecessor DJI Osmo Pocket well, you won't need this help. Besides, you’ll find all this information in the user manual, but not in this compact form. If you’re looking for a one pager, here’s a PDFs.

The buttons

  1. Control stick
  • Pans or zooms the camera, depending on the mode.
  1. Change button for control stick
  • Press once: switches the gimbal mode. «FPV» follows all large movements, only compensates for small vibrations. «Follow» also balances left-right movements. «Locked» balances movement on all axes.
  • Press twice quickly: switches between zoom and direction of the camera.
  1. Record button
  • Takes a photo or starts/stops video recording, depending on the mode.
  1. Shift key for record key
  • Press once: switches between photo and video.
  • Press twice: centers camera.
  • Press three times: rotates camera by 180 degrees (selfie).

Touch screen: swipe gestures

Swipe from the edge of the screen into the centre. Swiping in the opposite direction will take you back to where you came from. Key No. 4 does the same.

  • From the left: switches to playback mode. From there, swiping to the right: selection for delete or like.
  • From the right: select recording mode: photo, video, panorama, slow motion, fast motion.
From there, swiping to the left: settings for the respective mode. Tapping the lower left corner of the touch screen in regular recording mode does the same thing.
    Photo: aspect ratio, countdown (self-timer).
    Video: resolution, frame rate.
    Pano: art, countdown.
    Slow motion: resolution, tempo.
Time lapse: recording interval, total duration.
  • From top: various settings.
Swiping left and right switches between the various settings pages.
    Tapping changes the setting.
Exception: cog wheel opens further setting options when tapped.
Set control stick speed: accessories > control stick speed.
  • From the bottom: everything that has to do with the gimbal.
Centre gimbal, rotate by 180 degrees, switch between fast and slow follow, gimbal mode.

Touchscreen: other

Single tap on subject: focuses on a spot.

Double tap on subject: turns on ActiveTrack.

On the right edge of the touch screen, there are two small arrows or a plus and a minus, depending on the control stick mode. These arrows allow you to use the mode that is currently not active: in camera direction mode, it allows you to zoom and in zoom mode, it moves the camera up and down.
