Apple SuperDrive

Certainly not simply by plug & play as on Apple devices. According to Apple support, you can also get the thing to run under Windows, but only if you install the right drivers. http://www.apple.com/ch-de/shop/question/answers/mac/kann-ich-superdrive-bei-windows-pcs-benutzen/QDFDCKAXKPKPCTYUK I use the drive with various MacBooks and an iMac, which works great. For Windows I would rather look for better compatible drives. There are also some quite elegant offers here: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/producttype/externes-optisches-laufwerk-425
From Apple: To connect the SuperDrive to a Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port on your Mac, you can use one of the following adapters: USB-C digital AV multiport adapter USB-C VGA multiport adapter USB-C to USB adapter
I suppose so. However, only Apple customer service can give you a definitive answer.
According to our information, the Apple SuperDrive is not compatible with any iOS device, it is only designed for iMacs and MacBooks.
Play only. CD-ROMs must be burnt in a compatible way.
No only CD and DVD
No, the drive should work with the built-in USB-A port. I just tested mine on an iMac 2019 (with macOS Ventura 13.1) and had to look for a DVD ;) The drive appears in my built-in "System Information" application under Hardware > USB > USB 3.1 Bus as "Apple USB SuperDrive".
This part is USB-C and can also play Blu-Ray... Verbatim Slimline (Blu-ray)
Hello, no can only play DVD and CD's.
Ja genau, wenn das MacBook einen USB Anschluss hat, dann geht das. https://support.apple.com/de-ch/guide/dvd-player/welcome/mac
Of course.
The Apple Super Drive is merely a piece of hardware for playing and writing DVDs and/or CDs. It works on a Mac and also on a Windows PC with the appropriate driver from Apple. To be able to use it as a film player, you will probably have to get a corresponding app. I use such software for ripping DVDs, for example. (iSuper DD Ripper) Greetings, Edwin
Yes it is compatible but you will need a usb-c to USB adapter.
You need a USB Type C to Type A adapter. This should work: Apple USB Type-C to USB 3.1 (USB 3.1)
Unfortunately, the Apple TV does not have a media input that supports the drive.
I think you have a MacBook Air with a USBC port new model. With original Apple USB Type-C to USB 3.1 Digitec article 4236384 only this way it works!
This is still the case, connect directly!
On the Mac, just plug in the USB - that's it. Works perfectly (also with MacBook). Read, burn, copy... full access
Unfortunately, Apple has not launched a new drive. This drive only has a normal USB port, so you need to connect an adapter.
Apple always pays very well for its products. In return, however, they usually last much longer than competitor products. Let's say if the drive lasts 8 years and you have to buy a new one from a competitor after only 4 years, then the purchase price is worth it... if you're not interested in durability, then you'd better buy one from a competitor...
Hello, not only CD-Rom and DVD formats. Best regards, Thierry
This drive, which I have owned for years, has been compatible with all Macs as well as Windows. For Windows, however, a driver must be installed by Apple. I don't see any problems using it with the iMac I mentioned.
Maybe it occurred to you that Digitec buys the goods from somewhere else (wholesalers, etc.) instead of directly from Apple, which results in different prices? It wouldn't hurt to think a bit before making a big fuss about a price difference of only CHF 10-20!
Ja, steht doch in der Spezifikation ;) Siehe auch apple produkt page: https://www.apple.com/ch-de/shop/product/MD564ZM/A/apple-usb-superdrive
Yes, if your iMac is (late 2012) or newer. Please always specify the exact model or year of manufacture for Apple products so that compatibility can be checked and confirmed. According to the manufacturer's website, the Apple SuperDrive is compatible with the following products: MacBook Pro with Retina Display MacBook Air iMac (late 2012) and newer Mac mini (late 2009) and newer Mac Pro (late 2013)
