Icy Box Ib-183m2
M.2 2242, M.2 2260, M.2 2280
It was due to the Icy Box case. I returned it and decided in favour of the Digitus, it works perfectly.
Yes, the case is designed for M2 SATA SSDs. As long as your SSD does not have a hardware defect and is not encrypted, it should not be a problem.
This combination does not fit together and cannot work. The IB-183M2 enclosure uses SATA (AHCI) as the data protocol. However, the SSD Samsung 980 PRO uses NVMe (PCIe). However, this must match and cannot be mixed. It is not enough to only pay attention to the M.2 form factor.
Sorry, i have the same problem.. i also not return sa is was too slow fine this out.. and i am not using it..
You can install M.2 SATA B-Key or B+M-Key.
Response from the department responsible : Could the customer provide us with information about which SSD is installed in the enclosure box? This product is just an external SSD case in which an M.2 SSD has to be installed so that it can be recognized by the PC/Notebook. Is the mentioned SSD (sd6sp1m-256g-1102) installed in the case or in the notebook? It could be that the closure is defective in which I would advise DOA if the article was ordered recently. I suggest you write us a detailed email of the situation with all possible information so that we can make a request to the supplier and find a solution, thank you in advance for not responding here. Although you seem to have mastered the situation, may I add more detailed information about this problem? (I wrongly bought the SATA Icy Box for my NVMe-type SSD and it may be useful to share the experience). This Icy Box IB-183M2 is suitable only for SATA type SSD. It is not compatible with NVMe type SSD, which are nowadays more common. For NVMe type SSD you need Icy Box IB-1817M-C32, with the rippled Aluminium casing. Both types SSD look the same, as they have the same dimensions (22 x 30, 42, 60 or 80 mm) will mechanically fit into both Icy Boxes. A closer look at the connections however shows that they are indeed different! Icy Box SATA: has connection Key-B with 6+5 pins at the small side, and 2x28 pins on the long side. Icy Box NVMe: has connection Key M with 5+4 pins at the small side and 2x29 pins on the long side. See also https://www.delock.de/infothek/M.2/M.2.html If you put the SSD into the wrong box, it will end up that your SSD will not be found through your USB connection, and the SSD may heat up because the non-fitting numbers of pins will have caused short circuits.
Hello, this one should work: Icy Box IB-1817M-C31 - NVMe M.2 (M.2 2230, M.2 2242, M.2 2260, M.2 2280) LG
Hi Luetolfrobin, you have to count how many pins your SSD has, for example in my case I had a 16+12 pin and I had to order such an adapter from the Far East and be patient. With the following words you can search in google Jimier Mac Air Pro 2013 2014 2015 2016 SSD Portable Case USB 3.0 to 16+12 Pin Mobile Box HDD Enclosure. LG Risuiar
I installed it in 15 minutes as a Bernese
Yes, the cable is included (approx. 25 cm long).
Hello Finlayson I find the price under 25 CHF quite reasonable and was completely fine for me (even for a one-time data recovery). The performance of the device was great and convinced me during the data recovery.
I don't think so either, this SSD is connected via PCI-Express (PCI-E), the enclosure is for SATA connections (two notches vs. one notch for the SSD)... -> Simply take an enclosure for PCI-E.
Both SSDs you mentioned use the NVMe protocol. However, this adapter only supports the AHCI protocol (SATA). For NVMe SSDs you need an active adapter, for example this one: ICY BOX IB-1817M-C31 - NVMe M.2 (M.2 2230, M.2 2242, M.2 2260, M.2 2280)
Yes.
This enclosure is suitable for M.2 SSDs with SATA (AHCI) protocol. This applies to the SSD you linked, so yes.
Is in.
