If you have "FileVault" (equal to hard disk encryption) enabled in System Preferences/Security, you should be able to boot from it. Provided you have enabled booting from external media in the Startup Security Utility on a newer Mac with a T2 chip.
Thank you very much for pointing this out. A correction request has just been sent.
The part is very robust and resistant - I use it regularly without any consideration and it still looks like new! I wouldn't be aware of a case or anything. :)
The Samsung T7 can also be operated without encryption. The encryption can be activated or deactivated with the supplied software. Initially, I used the T7 in the pre-formatted version. Later I reformatted it to AFPS so that I could use it for Time Machine backups. The encryption still worked without any problems after reformatting, i.e. with both password and fingerprint.
We work with different suppliers and daily prices. For this reason, the price of an item may be adjusted up or down over time.
Yes, this is correct, you would pay 199.00 and then you have to fill in the Samsung request for receiving a cashback with 60.00.
Partitioning works perfectly. Unfortunately, you cannot reduce the strd. Format cannot be reduced. So I had to back up the data and create 2 partitions. To be able to do this, you should deactivate the protection during this time. Once you are done, simply activate the protection. Now I have an HTPS and an exFat partition and both can be opened with a fingerprint and also readable on a Mac and 1 partition can be written without tools. I don't know if it works on the PS4 or XBox One as promised!
I currently use the predecessor (T5, formerly T3) for my VM's and sometimes have quite a lot running on the server. The performance of the disk was never a problem. So far, only the CPU has failed (HP Notebook Dual Core i7-7500U with 32 GB RAM).
According to our information, this should work.
I use the T7 Touch as an external drive for backups on an iMac. To do this, the hard drive first had to be formatted to APFS.
Samsung Electronics GmbH Hello, Thank you for your enquiry. The Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch - 1 TB - Black MU-PC1T0K/WW is compatible with both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Please note that an internal SSD is more worthwhile with the PlayStation 4 Pro variant than with the other PlayStation 4 versions (standard/slim), as this has a SATA III interface. However, a PSSD can also be connected without be connected without any problems. With other PlayStation 4 versions, the T5/ T7 is faster than the internal HDD or SSD. Also important is that if you want to connect the SSD T7 Touch to a PlayStation 5, only PlayStation 4 games can be installed, not PlayStation 5 games. This requires an internal PCIe 4.0 SSD. If this is the case, you can find suitable models for your PlayStation on the Samsung website under the tab "Computer" and "Gaming SSD". Kind regards from Schwalbach Your Samsung Service Team

I back up all my mobile phone data regularly, including photos. First on the laptop. From there, I transfer it to two external SSDs, along with the rest of the laptop's data. After all, an SSD can break. Even within the warranty period. Or it can break through one's own fault. The quality of the photos is not damaged. Copying is done 1:1. I don't know how many years the photos and data on an SSD will remain undamaged. But a Digitec technician can certainly help.

Always this marketing As far as I know USB 3.1 is the same as USB 3.2 Gen1x1 = 5 GBits/s Gen 1x2 = 10GBit/s and Gen2 with 10 or 20 GBit/s. What is built in plays a subordinate role IMHO, what is important is which data rates are really achieved.
Yes, you can't activate the function, then it works completely without fingerprint or password.

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/community-newsroom/die-samsung-portable-ssd-t7-touch-als-speichererweiterung-an-der/ba-p/2311101 Read this article, it says it there. PS4 works anyway - on the Samsung thing it also says big and clear: GAMING READY It also says: "On the Playstation 5, you can currently install PS4 games on an external SSD, but not PS5 games. So you don't have to give up your existing game collection when new games come out, but can store them on the T7 Touch - leaving more space for new games on the Playstation 5". PS: If you can google, you have a clear advantage ;-)
In many cases, games have to be stored in the internal memory in order to be able to play them on the PC. I assume this is also the case here. The USB connection would be too slow for this. However, you can move other things like photos and videos to it to free up space on your internal hard drive. Otherwise, I recommend you install a bigger SD and mirror your existing one or rebuild your system. You can also continue to use the old memory by connecting it via an appropriate adapter.
