If you are a heavy multitasker, this is the CPU for you. If you are willing to overclock, you can get performance nearly as good as the 1700X and 1800X from the same series, for a far cheaper price. And you don't even need to get a separate cooler!
That said, if you only use your PC for gaming, 8 cores and 16 threads will rarely get used to their full potential. This will definitely change in coming year, but right now, most games only really use 6 threads at most. So for a purely gaming PC you might be better off with a Ryzen 5 CPU or an Intel equivalent.
