The AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens is compatible with the Nikon D5600, which is similar to the D5600. However, to confirm specific compatibility with the Nikon 5600, it is important to check whether the '5600' model is an existing Nikon model, as current models include the D5600. If you are referring to the D5600, then yes, this lens is compatible with that model.

Yes, when you attach the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens to a Nikon D7500 (a DX format camera), the crop factor of 1.5x is applied. This means that the effective focal length range is 300-750mm instead of 200-500mm on an FX format camera.

I have the Nikon 200-500mm (since 2015 - and back then the lens was really revolutionary) and am VERY satisfied with the image quality and the VR is also excellent (a gem for this price). The autofocus is rather slow. But once the object is in focus, the speed is also sufficient for tracking and the focus ring is easy to use/well placed. Negative: the zoom ring takes a long time to move from 200 to 500mm (sometimes I have to readjust) I have also been using the lens on the Z 6 since 2020 (with the FTZ adapter): the autofocus works very well (which is not the case with all F lenses). Use it for photo and video (VR is great). The Nikon is probably heavier than the Tamron, but the in-camera corrections work properly with Nikon-to-Nikon. But I don't know the Tamron. (I think only owners of the Nikon will answer your question here) I have never regretted the purchase, but today I would pay the 500.- extra for the Z 180-600.

I have used the lens with a 3rd party 1.4x teleconverter and it works. So it should also work with the Nikon. But the loss of quality is noticeable. In my opinion, the quality is better if you work without the converter and then edit the images (Photoshop or similar). With the N500 it works perfectly

The lens can be used with a Nikon DSLR with APS-C sensor (DX). It should be noted, however, that due to the shorter sensor distance, the focal length of the lens must be converted. Thus, the 200-500 mm on a full-frame camera with the D7200 corresponds to a 300-750 mm lens. According to Nikon, both autofocus and aperture should be controllable by the camera.

Hello Peter Of course! But I have the lens myself on a full-frame Nikon (FX), so the 200m at the bottom is very much in the telephoto range... With your D5600 (DX) with crop (x1.5) the lens gives you an angle of view of approx. 300-750 mm. That is already a super telephoto. So if you already have a lens in the 70-200mm range and are looking for a super tele (e.g. for safari or similar) then it's perfect! But if you don't have any other telephoto zoom, then I would think carefully about the purpose for which you want to use this lens! Otherwise, a 70-300 or something like that might be more ideal...;-) Greetings Arcuos

I use the D7200 for holiday photos and the D4s and D850 for the more dedicated hobby. I also have the Nikon 200-500 mm. I think if you do the lens "upgrade" you will notice little to no difference with the D7200. By switching to the D4s you would increase the frame rate from 6 to 10 per second. This is a clear advantage for fast moving animals. But you have to take into account that the D4s is full frame. This has several advantages, but also means that not all lenses of the D7200 will fit. The D4s is clearly a professional camera, built for a lot of shutter releases and heavy use. You'll have to decide for yourself whether a price/performance ratio is worth it, depending on the offer. I would perhaps recommend a D500.

what about compatibility with a Nikon D300?

The lens is designed for full-frame cameras, but the telephoto range is even more impressive due to the crop factor for DX cameras. I think it is compatible with all Nikon DSLR cameras. It even works with 1.4x teleconverter on my ancient D3000.
